Yermine Richardson a.k.a Pop Caribe is a Caribbean multidisciplinary artist whose visual works are vibrant celebrations of Caribbean cultures and aesthetics. Richardson’s work references the traditional semiotics of African heritage such as womanhood, pattern, spiritualism and cosmology.

“When I was young there was no electricity at night where I grew up, so I used to watch the stars and play in the darkness. Because of this I am acutely sensitive and attracted to bright colors. I remember my mom wearing a lot of sparkling clothes when going out to dance. These works are a celebration of people finding light even in darkness. Caribbean Galaxy.”

The Marrons were escaped slaves. In the Caribbean they ran away from Spanish-owned plantations to the mountains where they got the name maroon, which is derived from the Spanish word cimarrón, meaning wild or “untamed”.
This collection is a celebration of color and freedom.
