Caribbean Visual Artist, born and based in Curaçao, she uses mixed media to create installation pieces and conceptual art. Ailsa Anastatia is known for her installations, drawings and paintings inspired by the theme of space, thus in the broadest sense of the word. Physical space, space between people, inner space, open or closed spaces, but also social/ cultural/ spiritual “spaces”. The way in which we interact with our surrounding space and how we move within the space. Another important element in her work is the assigned space during the exhibition of her work. Anastatia often manipulates the space so as to require the viewer to adapt to it. This, either by having to walk around it, through it or alongside it.
