Paul Firmin is a Haitian-born artist based in Florida, who first started painting under the abbreviation of his name P.Firmin before taking on the pseudo KINI. It is through his feelings that the artist draws his inspiration: he experiences fear, anger, happiness, and other emotions, which he generously shares through painting to remind the rest of the world that these are common feelings.

The vivid colors in his work explore the extremes of the hot and cold poles in a perfectly assumed way and support the palette of emotions emanating from the black masculinity: the softness and silent sorrow in the blue tones to the fiery implosions for what attaches to anger, rage and chaos. It is interesting to observe the introspective nature of his work in the way he will dig into feelings across the ages to create chromatic connections.

s Through our paralyzing terror and growing happiness, I believe we are never truly alone in what we feel, no matter the circumstances. As an artist, I feel called to visually emulate these emotions and expose my personal feelings to remind others that they are indeed not alone.
