René Monzón Relova, known as Pozas is a Cuban self-taught artist, ex-industrial engineer, that created paintings impressionistic style that later turned to hyperrealism/surrealism with landscape, nature, and sometimes a lone person portrayed (his wife or son).
Just like the poesy of postal cards, he makes us join his nostalgia, serenity, and blurry imaginary reminiscences. A sort of intimate connexion to the depth of favorite moments of his life hidden in his creative mind.

Pozas places the figure in peaceful, nature filled environments, alone and in commune with nature. Sometimes the figure is not there at all, but just a feeling that they once stood in this place. Nature overflows in his work. To simply copy a landscape does not satisfy the artist. He believes in the imagined, modeled landscape of his dreams.
