Asbel Gomez Dumpierre, renown surrealist artist from Havana is bringing his art to the USA after a successful trajectory in Cuba, Europe and South America. He creates a universe full of dimension and infuses with his own sense, influence, and cultural history.
Asbel paintings are balanced by a composition full of details: repeating body parts on human caricatures surrounded by tiny objects, strange beings, and flying animals.
“To paint for me is something extraordinary, almost indescribable. Something that allows me to make my ideas concrete into one dimension in which it can transform the impossible into possible.”

“Painting has its own language, the ability to intrigue me and let me reflect at the same time, it feels like spiritual liberation. When I think about creativity and its reasons, I imagine myself like a sailor on board of a galleon, without a clear course, with the heart as a compass and ambition as a map. In this way, I go by scrutinizing every new latitude and exploring the unknown.
And then I enjoy it when the ports cling to me, despite preferring to sail off, just orienting myself with intuition, challenging fear and the unknown.”
