Suzie Wong Presents x Emerging Contemporary Jamaica (virtual exhibition)

November 5th – 22nd , 2021 ▪︎ presented by Suzie Wong Presents in Jamaica


Jamaica’s significant art history is highlighted by the strong contemporary cohort of visual artists at Suzie Wong Presents gallery. The artists in this exhibition are a mix of recent EMCVPA graduates and those already exhibiting in the local, and international art scene, this is a special showcase of their work in partnership with Artsy, aiming to offer visibility beyond the islands.


Arnim’s Art Galleria presents ‘En Plein Air’ (group exhibition)

November 15th – 27th , 2021 ▪︎ presented by Arnim Art Galleria in Trinidad and Tobago.

This exhibition features 45 artworks of top plein air artists in Trinidad. Such artists include Jackie Hinkson, Sundiata, Beverley Fitzwilliam Harries and Paula Cooper. Exhibition commences Monday 15th until Saturday 27th November, 2021.


Krystel Ann Art at AKAA 2021 (art fair)

November 12th – 14th , 2021 ▪︎ presented by Krystel Ann Art Guadeloupe.

This sixth edition of AKAA is one of resilience. A resilience built around multiple new projects and an ever more assertive curatorial approach. Krystel Ann Art gallery founded in 2016 by two collectors from Guadeloupe, Olivier Tharsis and Chrystelle Merabli, specialises in the promotion of Afro-descendant artists. The gallery collaborates with institutional projects whose objective is to present Creole aesthetics from the African diaspora. Artists presented at AKAA 2021: Giana de Dier, Leticia Barreto.

The Art Society of Trinidad and Tobago is pleased to announce this Call to Artists for their upcoming ANNUAL NOVEMBER MEMBERS’ EXHIBITION opening on Friday 26 November, 2021 and closing on Thursday 16 December 2021. 


‘Non-Lieux’ presented by La Station Culturelle (exhibition)

November 26th December 16th , 2021 ▪︎ presented by La Station Culturelle in Martinique.

As part of the Architecture and Heritage Days in the Antilles, the Station Culturelle is presenting the exhibition Non-Lieux, designed by Abité, at the Patio19, 19 rue Garnier Pages FdF. The photographer Dan Beal, invites you to look at and confront the facades to reflect on our relationship to the world and to our habitat.

“From Time: Water Has A Perfect Memory” (virtual exhibition)

November 22nd – January 23rd , 2021 ▪︎ presented by National Art Gallery of the Bahamas in the Bahamas.

The NAGB’s Inter-Island Traveling Exhibition (ITE) is back! Experience the virtual exhibition “From Time: Water Has A Perfect Memory”. The exhibition “From Time” opens virtually on Monday, November 22nd, 2021, at 12:00 p.m. “From Time” draws on works from the National Collection to prompt our thoughts on pressing issues of sustainability, environment, evolution and future-building in our beloved Bahamian and Caribbean space. We are challenged to begin to consider the meaning of history and archives on our own terms and to dare to imagine an abundant and inclusive afro-future. “From Time” will remain open through January 23rd, 2022.


“EnSeña” at the Cultural Centre of Spain Santo Domingo (exhibition)

November 5th December 18th , 2021 ▪︎ presented by the Cultural Centre of Spain in Dominican Republic.

After nearly a decade of exploring the benefits of art in the education of people with disabilities and the recognition of their rights, Dominican artist and activist María Batlle has created an exhibition of portraits of deaf Dominicans showing Sign Language.


Issue 4 of Do-Kre-I-S, the Haitian Journal of Creole Cultures (panel discussion)

November 26th , 2021 ▪︎ presented by Do-Kre-I-S in France.

Presentation of issue 4 of the journal Do-Kre-I-S, with members of the journal and guests. What do Creole populations have to share today? What are their respective singularities? What are the common marks left by colonial oppression? Panel discussion held in Marseille, France.


Cuban artists Wifredo Lam and Belkis Ayon in Whose tradition? Tate Liverpool (exhibition)

November 14thJanuary 2022 ▪︎ presented by Tate Liverpool in the U.K.

As part of this exhibition, artworks by Cuban artists Wifredo Lam (1902-1982) and Belkis Ayón (1967-1999) will be included. Both artists, in their own decolonising ways incorporated their Afro-Cuban heritage and culture in their art to create a new visual language, while white European artists looked to ‘Africa’ for the ‘exotic and unknown’.


Trinidadian artist Tessa Alexander, at PRIZM 2021 (art fair)

November 30thDecember 19th ▪︎ presented by Prizm Art Fair online.

PRIZM art fair returns for its ninth edition and second digital iteration of its fair dedicated to exhibiting international artists. PRIZM 2021 will be online from Nov. 30th to Dec. 19th. Programming and exhibitions will be accessible online at www.prizm.art and artsy.net


De Buck Gallery presents Canboulay by artist Zak Ové (solo exhibition)

October 21stNovember 20th ▪︎ presented by De Buck Gallery in the U.S.

De Buck Gallery is pleased to present Canboulay, the gallery’s first solo exhibition of artist Zak Ové. The exhibition will be on view at 507 West 27th Street from October 21 to November 20, as well as accessible online as part of the gallery’s digital programming. The exhibition features Ové’s doily paintings, inspired by memories of Canboulay, the masquerade festival which evolved into the Trinidad and Tobago Carnival.


Vogue Italia x Photo Vogue Festival presents St Marten artist, Lisandro Suriel (festival)

November 18thNovember 20th ▪︎ presented by Photo Vogue Festival in Italy.

This year’s Vogue Italia x Photo Vogue Festival presents an exciting panel discussion on November 18th with St Marten artist, Lisandro Suriel. During DOCUMENTARIES OF THE IMAGINATION, Suriel will be in conversation with with fellow prize winner and photographer River Claure @elriveriver , moderated by Chiara Bardelli Nonino @chiaranonino , photo editor at @vogueitalia and @luomovogue , and curator for Photo Vogue Festival. Photo Vogue Festival runs until November 2021,


Joanna Aldred at Horizons Art Gallery (exhibition)

November 16th – ongoing ▪︎  presented by Horizons Gallery in Trinidad and Tobago.

Horizons is the premier art gallery of Trinidad and Tobago, offering the widest range of paintings and sculpture from throughout the Caribbean region, including Cuba, Barbados, Columbia, and Venezuela. Joanna Aldred’s new exhibition is opening on Tuesday November 16th. Shawn Peters’ continues in gallery until 13th November.


‘Consent not to be a single being: Worlding Through the Caribbean’ (online symposium)

December 1st – December 3rd ▪︎  presented by Tate in the U.K.

consent not to be a single being: Worlding Through the Caribbean takes the Caribbean and Caribbean thought as a starting point to reconsider global histories of art and contemporary public cultures. The symposium highlights generative frameworks for imagining new ways of being in the world. In particular, it asks how to enable new worldings, new decolonial and reparative modes of understanding global art histories, artistic practices and public cultures more generally. Addressing the contested spaces of universities, museums, and cultural institutions, this symposium thinks with and through Glissant, Hall, and Wynter to radically transform our ways of relating to the world around us. 


‘When My Father Took us Fishing’ by Richard Nattoo (exhibition)

November 20th – November 22nd ▪︎  presented by Olympia Art Gallery in Jamaica.

Richard Nattoo has always had an interest in colour, texture, form and shape. Check out his latest exhibition that explores his surreal dreamlike creations at Olympia Art Gallery in Kingston Jamaica until November 22, 2021.
