Annual Artistic Grants – Virgin Islands (funding opportunity)
July 30th – August 31st, 2021 ▪︎ presented by US Virgin Islands Council on the Arts in US Virgin Islands.
The Virgin Islands Council on the Arts is currently accepting grant applications for the 2022 grant cycle. Reflections on Emancipation and Post Colonial Society (exhibition)
August 13th – September 15th, 2021 ▪︎ presented by Caribbean Centre for the Arts, in US Virgin Islands.
The exhibition will feature multi-media artwork by 17 Barbadian artists who will approach the theme with their own unique visions and run August 13 through September 25. It is curated by Anderson M Pilgrim and Oneka Small of Barbados.
‘MIRADOR CIRCULAR’ – Galleria Continua Habana (exhibition)

Arte Continua is pleased to present, on the occasion of its 5th anniversary in Cuba and the 30 years of Galleria Continua, the group exhibition MIRADOR CIRCULAR (Circular viewpoint), with Cuban artists Alejandro Campins, Iván Capote, Yoan Capote, Elizabet Cerviño, Carlos Garaicoa, Osvaldo González, Luis López-Chávez, José Mesías, Susana Pilar and José Yaque.

Open call – Central Bank annual art exhibition DEADLINE: 1 October 2021 (call for artists)
October 1st, 2021 ▪︎ presented by Central Bank of the Bahamas Culture Initiatives in Bahamas.
Since 1984, the Central Bank stages an annual art competition and exhibition. It continues to uncover and showcase budding Bahamian talent in the visual arts. For many, this competition and exhibition have served as an introduction to the Bahamian art world. The exposure received has been an invaluable first step in growing their gifts. Moreover, in staging this event, the Central Bank has enjoyed the distinct privilege of assisting young Bahamians in educational pursuits that have helped them to further develop their skills. As a result, many of them have gone on to very promising and successful professional careers in visual arts.
‘Rencontres Photographiques de Guyane’ creative residencies for artists from the West Indies (artist residency)
Now – November 28th, 2021 ▪︎ presented by Les Rencontres Photographiques de Guyane in Guyana.
For several years now, the Rencontres Photographiques de Guyane has been welcoming photographers from the West Indies for creative residencies. “Just next door to us, Amazonia”, is the theme of this year’s biennial event (3 to 28 November)
Que la Lumiére soit (collective exhibition)

With the support of the Collectivité de Saint Barthélemy, we are pleased to present a new collective exhibition of paintings, photographs and sculptures made by artists from the island. Makemba Kunle at Arnim’s Gallery (exhibition)
August 7th – August 21st, 2021 ▪︎ presented by Arnim’s Gallery in Trinidad & Tobago.
Makemba Kunle’s exhibition titled The Gathering Storm will now take place from August 7-21 at Arnim’s Gallery, 27 Tragarete Road, Port of Spain. This “Storm” is a “suite” of drawings, ink on paper, of a civilisation in the crisis of defeat, together with a selection of miniatures executed between 2014 and 2021, said a media release. The exhibition is Kunle’s first showing in Port of Spain in just over six years. His last show was The Unfolding of an Artist: Art, Aesthetics and Revolution at the National Museum and Art Gallery in 2014.

Meet up Town Hall Edition: Kingston Creative

This month’s MeetUp is all about Downtown! The building of a Creative City Downtown has a direct impact on the entire community, whether they are residents, business owners, creatives or others. The Meetup seeks to find out what the community thinks a Creative City is and whether this aligns with Kingston Creative’s vision/plans. It aims as well to hear what the needs and challenges of the community are outside of this vision as this directly affects their engagement. In addition, the Meetup will discuss the type of support community players need to participate in or access the budding creative City. Among the panel will be representatives from the SDC, community leaders and creatives.
